We strive to conduct our honors biomedical magnet program with rigor and integrity to ensure continued academic excellence. We ask that all biomedical magnet students honorably strive to stay in good standing during their time with us.
Expectations To Maintain Good Standing:
Maintain a minimum of a C average (70%) in all courses each year
Attend and actively participate in class daily
Complete assignments in a timely manner
Act with maturity, good behavior, and respect at all times
Refrain from cheating and plagiarism in all areas of study
Removal Process:
We certainly hope that this does not become necessary, but there is the possibility that a student does not maintain good standing and will need some intervention to get back on track. This process will be as follows:
Student will be guided and counseled to correct the problem, parent contacts may be made
A notice of probation will be given with clear goals for improvement over a defined period of time
If goals for improvement are reasonably met, the student will revert back to good standing
If goals are partially met with good intention, the student may have an extension of probation until the remaining goals are met
If goals are not reasonably met, the student may be removed from the biomedical magnet program
Serious infractions could result in immediate removal from the magnet program at the discretion of the LHS magnet administrative team
For reference, some examples of serious infractions could be bullying, lab safety violations that result in harm or injury, violent or threatening behavior towards other students or teachers, plagiarism or cheating, etc.
