Class overview
This is a yearlong course and is intended to prepare students for future classes in social studies and as lifelong learners. We will travel around the world in 180 days looking at every continent studying the regions geography, culture, economics, population patterns, and government. We will investigate and learn about our surroundings as we begin our adventure July 31, 2025. As always, remember you will have a lifejacket, and no one falls overboard on the HMS 309.

About Mr. Belden
Hello my name is Greg M. Belden. This is my eighteenth year teaching seventh grade social studies at HMS. I have a masters degree in Education from The University of Findlay in Ohio. I received my bachelors degree from Michigan State University. I am certified to teach Gifted and Talented in South Carolina. Outside the classroom, I am into fitness and I workout with a group of guys in Hartsville called F3. I go to Calvary Chapel in Florence and I just celebrated my fourteenth wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife. We have three children and two dogs. I am looking forward to a great year!
