About Me

I am CJ Schorr. I have 2 sisters, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I play lacrosse, and I like to snowboard, skateboard and bike. I chose my project because I am very athletic, and I wanted to do something that would entertain but still challenge me, and something that I can still use after the project is over. Building equipment will allow me to do that.

MY PROJECT

For my project, I plan to research and build multiple pieces of sports equipment. So far I want to build a hockey goal, a lacrosse goal, a soccer goal and maybe a basketball hoop. I will research online to find the best prices and materials to build these. I will then build them and see if I saved any money building them myself, rather than buying a premade one online.

My Mentor

I am currently still looking for a mentor for my project. My mentor just needs to be someone who has some experience with basic carpentry or engineering and working with simple materials. If anyone is interested, please email my teacher, Mrs. Jancski, kjancski@darienps.org.

Final Reflection

Overall I am very pleased with the outcome of my final project. I enjoyed working with all of the projects, and I am glad I picked a project that I could have fun with. With my project, I learned so many new and helpful skills, that I believe I will be able to use for my entire life. I believe that it was difficult enough to keep me engaged and working, and not too hard, so I was able to keep up with my school work. Overall I think I was able to do a project that balanced very well with my life and schedule.

PRP #4

Overall, this minigoal was very succesful, I created a high quality cornhole set using good materials, and using many different newly learned skills, I was able to complete it on time.

Mini GOal #4

For my 4th mini goal, I bought the materials, and finished building my cornhole set, overall it was very succesfull

Progress Report #3

IDEA Project Report #1

For my 3rd mini goal, I built a basketball backboard and rim using plywood.

Mini goal #3

In my 3rd mini goal, I was able to make the whole backboard and hoop, as well as buy the materials in a very short time which I am proud of. For my next project, I want to do something more complicated that will take a longer time

Mini Goal #4

For my 4th mini goal, I am planning on making a corn hole set out of wood. I will try and use hinges, so that the set can fold up to make it easier for transport.

Progress Report #2

PRP #2

For my second mini-goal, I bought the materials to make my hockey goal, and assembled them at my house. Overall, the build was very succesfull.

Mini goal #2 Reflection

I managed to build the entire goal in a few days, which I am proud of. Next time I will try to make my plan a little more solid before building, because I wasn't entirely sure on what the net would be made out of until after I had build the frame.

MINI Goal #3

For my 3rd mini goal, I will start planning to make a basketball backboard out of plywood. I will buy the materials and build it at my house, and then I will mount it on my garage.

Progress Report #1

My first mini-goal was to do my original research on building with materials. I learned about building with PVC pipe and wood, and I decided that for my first project, I would be building a hockey goal with PVC pipe.

Mini Goal #2

My second mini goal is to buy the parts and assemble the hockey goal. I will go to home depot and by 3 10ft by 1 1/2 in pvc pipes and 4 corner pieces to build the frame of the goal. I will then test the goal and see if it is worth it to build your own equipment, or if its just easier to buy one.
