Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”– Benjamin Franklin
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year! I am looking forward to having your child as a student. 5th grade is such a fun and memorable grade with so many wonderful learning activities to celebrate. To have a fun year, my most important goal is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and integral part of our family of learners. I hope that you will also support and encourage this vision at home. By working together, I am confident it will be a great and successful school year.
About Me:
My name is Amber Tyson, and I am thrilled to embark on my sixth year as a classroom teacher, marking my fifth year teaching at KHES. I pursued my education at the University of Virginia and Gardner-Webb University, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with post-baccalaureate licensure in Elementary Education (K-6).
Before becoming a certified teacher, I worked as an assistant in both general and special education settings, as a children's ministries director, and as a preschool teacher. However, the role I value most is being a mom to my four kids (15, 13, 11, and 9). My passion for working with children has remained strong throughout my journey as a parent and in various educational roles. I am dedicated to providing each student I teach with the same care and learning opportunities I wish for my own children. Building strong connections with my students and their families is at the core of how I approach teaching.
I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the wonderful KHES family and eagerly anticipate the adventures and growth that the 2025-2026 school year will bring!
