Let's Talk About it! - Week 3
Humphrey says a word three times over for emphasis. Sometimes he describes his surroundings: LOUD-LOUD-LOUD or DARK-DARK-DARK. Sometimes he is trying to be understood: PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE or ME-ME-ME. Many times he is expressing his emotions: WHEW-WHEW-WHEW or SIGH-SIGH-SIGH or JOY-JOY-JOY.
This week our activity, or challenge, to you is to pick a discussion question from our list (or make up one of your own!) and film a Flipgrid response where you use Humphrey’s three times over tool to emphasize your point.
Here’s an example: This week’s reading was FUN-FUN-FUN, I can’t wait to read more, this book is the BEST-BEST-BEST.
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION:
A.J.’s father offers a number of ways that he and his brothers used to pass the time as children. Brainstorm at least three activities you and your family could do to spend time together with no screens.
Garth and A.J. manage to patch up their friendship. Have you ever drifted apart from a friend? What did you do to close the distance? What did you learn, if anything?
The pain of his accident leaves Mr. Brisbane struggling to be nice to himself and to Mrs. Brisbane. Think of someone you love. If that person was with you, what is something kind you would say to them? If comfortable, share what you'd tell your loved one.
Be honest — did you expect the Brisbanes to like Humphrey by the end of their weekend together? Did you think Humphrey would come around to the Brisbanes? Were you pleasantly surprised? Explain your answer
The students of Room 26 celebrate a number of holidays. What are some of the holiday traditions that you and your family perform each year? What are your favorites?
