About our school
About our school
Cranbourne is a two form entry primary school set in the Hundred Acre Estate about a mile from the centre of Hoddesdon. Our buildings are spacious and well maintained, with large classrooms, two halls and a library.
We make full use of our very extensive grounds. We have four playgrounds, fitness trails and climbing areas for all ages, a woodland area, quiet areas, picnic benches, an outdoor classroom, and a field large enough to cater for several football pitches, rounders pitches and a running track depending upon the season.
We are proud of the welcoming and friendly atmosphere within our school. It is a school where every child really matters and every family is made to feel part of our community. Our motto is “Broadening Horizons” which drives our curriculum, assemblies, and extra-curricular choices. We want our children to understand they are part of, and the future of, a big wide world. Above all we aim to give the children a primary school experience that they will never forget.
We are enormously proud of the learning culture at Cranbourne. This is a school where children become confident learners, able to challenge and push themselves, while learning carefully planned knowledge and skills. Our curriculum is the means by which we ensure our children receive their share of the rich cultural inheritance our nation and world holds. We aim to equip children to become interested and interesting adults, able to contribute positively to the well-being of their community and to wider society.
From their first days in our Ofsted Outstanding rated early years department, to the time they leave us in year 6, children will experience a broad curriculum covering the full range of primary school subjects. We never narrow our curriculum to focus on test results; we believe children deserve more than this. We have a strong focus on reading, starting with secure phonics knowledge, as this underpins future learning well beyond the primary years. We hope to foster a lifelong love of books.
For those children who have additional needs we have a non-class based Special Educational Needs Coordinator, and an assistant SENCo who get to know children and families really well, and support them on their educational and personal journey.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
