Welcome to the new look newsletter!
This new style of newsletter should be much easier for everyone to read. No more having to download PDF versions, it's just click on a link and read! It's a bit of a learning curve for me - I've had to make lots of notes about how to use it, so let's hope I've followed them carefully. I often tell the children that adults are learning all the time too, and here's a perfect example!
We've had a wonderful time this week watching all the classes perform the poems they've been learning. They really threw themselves into it and performed with such enthusiasm. The quality of the performances has been really impressive, from reception to year 6. Well done everyone!
As you know, we have recently had an Ofsted inspection. We can't share the outcome with you until we get the final report - even staff don't know. I can say that it was a very thorough and fair process. I look forward to sharing the report when I'm able.
Congratulations to our year 3 and 4 athletes who represented us at an the indoor competition at Wodson Park. They came back to school proudly wearing their silver medals! This was a fantastic achievement, especially as we were a child down on the day. Well done, everybody!
Congratulations to our A football team who were the winners of the local tournament yesterday! Not only did they play brilliantly, they were fantastic ambassadors for the school.
Year 6 have been writing their Rotary Club essays about what they want to be when they grow up. This is an annual competition for schools in the local area. It’s always fascinating to hear what jobs the children are hoping for . . . I wonder how many of them continue with these as they grow older? The senior leadership team met to select the entries that will be put forward for the final. We had a lot of debate as there were so many good essays to choose from. Well done, year 6!
Year 3's show - Jack and the Beanstalk - was wonderful! You could see how much they were enjoying telling the story and singing the songs. It never ceases to amaze me just how brilliant such young children can be. Congratulations to everyone involved.
We've recently had some really good weeks for attendance - even averaging 97% last week. Year 5 are leading the way again with 97.4%: attendance superstars! You can easily see your child's attendance by looking at the Arbor app. 96% and above is the ideal, low 90s% are a concern, and anything below 90% is considered "persistent absenteeism" and really needs addressing.
This week you were sent the children's reports for year 1 - year 6. The teachers put a lot of time into these, and then I have the pleasure of reading and writing comments on them all.
We need people to join the School Board of Governors. At the moment we can't have any more parents, but if you think someone you know may be interested, get them to give us a call or email us. We do know that Roselands are looking for governors too, so if you're interested in helping out another school why not give them a ring and find out more (01992 442407)?
