Dress Rehearsal:
All dancers need to check in with our staff/parent volunteers at the check-in table outside of the band room.
Dancers should be supervised in the dressing room at all times by a parent or guardian. On dress rehearsal day, parents will be responsible for assisting with quick changes. After dancers are finished with dress rehearsal, they should leave all costumes and costume pieces on the rack in their dressing room before leaving the high school.
Dancers in the backstage dressing rooms should bring only what they need for their performance (makeup, hair tools, etc.) -- please do not bring dream duffels, extra costumes, or extraneous items. Dancers will be responsible for their own costume changes. If a quick change is necessary, there will be a staff member, older dancer, or parent volunteer available backstage to assist with changes. After dancers are finished with dress rehearsal, they should leave all costumes and costume pieces on the rack in their dressing room before leaving the high school.
Show Day:
On show day, dancers ages 8+ will remain backstage for the entire show. Creative Movement and Ballet/Tap Combo dancers will sit with their parents in the audience during the act in which they are not performing and proceed backstage during intermission or return to their parents during intermission. Primary-level dancers who are only in Act 2 are welcome to sit with their parents during Act 1 and proceed backstage during intermission. Primary dancers who are only in Act 1 may be picked up from the dressing room at intermission to watch the second part of the show with their families. Please make sure dancers use the restroom before coming backstage.
Staff and parent volunteers will be on-hand to supervise and entertain Creative Movement and Primary-level dancers in their dressing room. Our staff and volunteers are also able to help with costume changes. If you prefer to help your child with costume changes, please let us know when checking them in.
Backstage dressing rooms for ages 8 and up each have a staff member or parent volunteer assigned to them to assist with quick changes.
It is important that only a parent or guardian pick students up and drop them off at the dressing rooms. Students will not be released from the dressing room without a parent or guardian.
All costumes must be hung up in their original bag with the appropriate label and all costume pieces before dancers leave the school. If costumes that are not returned or are returned irreparably damaged, the dancer's family will be assessed a $75 replacement fee, as detailed in the registration form. Please encourage your dancers to be careful with their costumes. Renting costumes for winter shows allows us to keep costs low and allow more students to participate. We appreciate your help!
