Welcome New South Street Staff Members!

My name is Maranda Kimberly and I am going to be one of the new fourth grade teachers for this coming 2018-2019 school year! I am excited and eager to begin, get to know everyone and be a part of the community you have created. I hope to build off of the knowledge and experience from my team teachers and fellow staff members, as this is my first year teaching and I have much to learn. I have learned as a student and a newly established educator, that when teachers work together with our singular focus being on providing the most engaging and authentic learning experiences to our students, they will prosper. Furthermore, I am looking forward to working with everyone and having a great school year! A little background on me personally, I was born and raised in New Milford. I grew up on a 450 acre dairy farm with seven brothers and one sister. I have worked there from a very young age and will continue to work there on the weekends. This experience will bring a different cultural dynamic into my classroom that many of these students aren't familiar with. I believe this will aid in their knowledge of cultural diversity and will strike their interest. I also own my own farmhouse decor business. I love art and try to incorporate it into the classroom as much as I can. I think arts integration is a great method to get students engaged and excited about learning. My school email is if you have any questions/concerns please reach out. You can also find me in room 13. Looking forward to a great school year!
Blake Hutchins is a new addition to South Street and will be teaching 2nd grade this year. He recently traded his flip flops for snow boots and moved from Florida with his fiancé, Danielle and their golden retriever Harrison. Mr. Hutchins is entering his 4th year of teaching after graduating from the University of West Florida with a BA in elementary education. His energy in the classroom and his way of making his students think outside of the box are reasons we are excited to have him on our team. Mr. Hutchins is a huge sports fan and loves to watch and play them as much as possible. He is also an avid music listener and enjoys going to concerts in his spare time as well as cooking and creating in his kitchen.
Hello, I am Mrs. Susana Parra-Leamon. I am excited to be a part of the South Street Elementary School family. I am your new ESL Teacher. I have had the privilege of teaching for over eight years. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management. I soon discovered that educating others was my passion. I began my teaching career in Texas. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade and have also tutored many ELL students in different grade levels.
I believe the greatest gift as an educator is being a part of a student’s learning. I love seeing the little eyes glimmer when they finally have a breakthrough. The breakthrough is the look of learning, and it is the most rewarding experience.
On a personal note, I enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures with my family. I love long distance running, diving the blue oceans, and exploring hidden spots across the world.
