ABOUT SEVEN

Seven is an opportunity for students and teachers to collaborate on meaningful, community based projects that challenge students to solve problems while enhancing a variety of skills.

Grading

All students in a SEVEN will be graded on a standards-based learning rubric. Students will be graded in the following categories:

Quality of Research
Community Building
Collaboration (Teamwork)
Individual Contribution to the Project
Outcome (Event)

Length of Projects

These are merely projections to give students and teachers an idea of how long a project might take. Project length will vary based on the project depth and/or the ideas of the SEVEN.

WEEKERS

These are short-term activities that students and teachers can use in between longer-term projects.

MULTI-WEEKERS

These are middle of the road projects that will require multiple weeks, potentially months to complete.

QUARTERS

These projects are aligned with the RPMS Quarter schedule and would likely conclude with one bigger event per quarter.

YEAR-LONG

These are long-term projects are taking place throughout the year. While there may be some smaller events built in throughout the year, these projects are aimed at completing a larger culminating event.

Types of Teams

These are just suggestions to give students and teachers an idea of how to organize teams within their SEVEN. Projects will not need to include all of these teams and some may only require a couple of different teams. SEVENs will also be establishing their own categories/teams as they develop their projects.

Artifact Creation

This team would be responsible for creating artifacts that are necessary for the project/event.

Budget and Fundraising

This team would be responsible for the event's finances.

Event Planner and Recorder

This team would be in charge of organizing a calendar of events, deadlines, meetings, etc.

Food

This team would be in charge of organizing food options for events.

Location Preparation

This team would be responsible for preparing the location for an event (tables, chairs, organize the physical layout).

Logistics

This team would be responsible for overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of the project.

Marketing

This team would market the event by creating posters, flyers, videos, etc.

Research Team

Although all members of the SEVEN will be conducting research, this time might dive deeper into researching a project while others work on other aspects of it.

Supply Organizers

This team would be in charge of organizing, storing, and keeping track of the supplies needed for the event.

Technology

This team would be in charge of all things related to technology within the project (websites, videos, audio).

Transportation

This team would be in charge of organizing transportation for a potential field trip opportunity.
