About The Members

The Dana Middle School Mecha Mariners VEX team of 2017 is built up of individuals who have a passion for either creating, communicating, or experiencing an entirely brand new environment. Whereas some of us aspire to follow through on this road of engineering into adulthood, others only wish to see this as an opportunity to find other things which may interest them, yet some of us want to continue on a different course in life, that has already captured them. The Mecha Mariners consist of students that range from grade 6 to 8, yet each equally shares a profound curiosity for the robotics program and an eagerness to see how they can participate to the whole.

Operation/Organization

• The Vex Iq, Mecha Mariners are separated into two sub groups, namely team A (12521A) and team B (12521B). In sub-group A can be found the leader/supervisor Jared A. whereas team B has elected team leader Anna E. Inside of both groups each has its own divisions and each makes its own ROV to compete. T he However, both groups come together for things including fundraising, community outreach events, and meetings concerning all Mecha Mariners.

Profits/Fundraising Methods

• The Mecha Mariners raise funds for certain VEX parts we may need a greater abundance of, Competition mandated fees, and more professional fundraising equipment to make more money. As fundraising techniques are more in the early sages, so far we have limited ourselves to local bake sales in which we sell baked goods, fundraisers with businesses for a portion of the proceeds namely ¨Chipotle¨, and other minor objects we sell.
• In addition to actually selling things for funds, we also reach out to the community for donations. One way this is demonstrated is by our use of ¨Donors Choose¨ so as to fund the projects which we are working on here in the Mecha Mariners VEX IQ robotics club. Other donations which are accepted are donations of either cash, materials, etc... that help the club. In return for these services everyone who helps contribute to the robotics is mentioned as a sponsor of the VEX IQ robotics club.

Code of Treatments

• The Mecha Mariners at Dana Middle school not only have the expectation of treating everyone equally regardless of race, sex, ideas, etc... but already have that mindset and mentality that this is the standard of treatment. Seldom will there ever be a clash based off of hate filled views and we all work with one another to achieve our goals. Although unofficial, this is the code which is lived by each and every Mecha Mariner.

The Process We Take

• Whether it's building robots, Programming the ROV's, or planning events which promote the robotics club, we always follow through on the engineering design process. This is the process in which you ask questions, imagine the outcome, plan your design, build/organize/assemble, test your product, then improve it. This is the standard for which we create and produce nearly everything in the robotics club.
