The 12th Battalion Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps at W.W. Samuell High School was establish in 1957. Our program is designed to teach and instill leadership and character development throughout its curriculum. The program gives students the opportunity to learn and apply leadership skills. JROTC does not recruit for the Armed Forces. It is an elective class offering PE Credit for the students who successfully complete the course. Many students enroll in their Freshmen year and remain in the program for four years. Students find JROTC both fun and challenging. They develop a sense of pride as they emerge as leaders throughout our high school campus. JROTC students are held to the highest level of personal conduct and personal appearance. Our first year students wear the school uniform unless they are selected as a member of a special team. Once students advance to the second year of the program they are awarded the Army Cadet Service Uniform.
