A little bit about me... I grew up in a rodeo family... My grandfather started the Mesquite Championship Rodeo in 1957 and produced the rodeo every Friday & Saturday night, April through September, until it sold in 1999. My dad is the 8-time World Champion Bull Rider in the PRCA and still holds that record today. I played softball and golf in high school and received a full scholarship to play golf in college. In 2005, my Oklahoma City University women's golf team won the NAIA National Championship tournament. After that I focused on school... I studied abroad in Valencia, Spain my last semester of college and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Texas in 2008. I had fallen in love with the Spanish language and culture abroad and I decided to pursue a career as a teacher. I taught in Mesquite ISD for 10 years... I have taught English IV, AP Spanish IV, Spanish I and Heritage Spanish I. I coached golf at North Mesquite High School and I also spent four years in elementary teaching bilingual 5th and 6th grade. During my teaching career, I pursued a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Amberton University and graduated with a 4.0 in 2013. I also studied Educational Leadership at Lamar University and obtained my Principal Certification in 2015. I was so excited for the opportunity to be the P-TECH Counselor at Adamson High School in the Spring of 2019... This is my dream job and I am so happy that I get to support students socio-emotional health and help them achieve their educational goals and plan for their future! Besides language and education, I love Jesus, my family, and my rescue animals... I have 2 dogs, Zoey & Izzy, and 3 cats, Harley, Ronin & Hugo... I also love being involved in my amazing church, Shoreline City, all things Harry Potter (the books first, but also the movies), reading, FOOD, renaissance festivals, hiking, kayaking, skiing and traveling the world to discover new places, meet new people, and learn about new cultures.
