Leadership Applied Across Sectors
LEAD 555 was easily the most challenging course in the entire sequence, pushing us to put our Creative Problem Solving skills into action while mastering the SCRUM framework—enough to impress our friends and baffle our enemies. The semester centered on a demanding group project and a comprehensive individual assignment tackling real-world problems we were passionate about solving. It was an intense but deeply rewarding experience that tested both our teamwork and our capacity for innovative leadership.
This project explores how puppetry, one of humanity’s oldest storytelling traditions, can be made more accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences. Although rich in emotional and artistic potential, puppetry is often marginalized in today’s media landscape. Through focus group interviews with a diverse audience, this research identifies barriers to puppetry’s broader appeal and surfaces opportunities for meaningful reinvention. Synthesizing these insights into three personas, the study informed the development of a prototype media campaign, The Muppets Take the World, a multi-phase, cross-platform strategy that reintroduces the Muppets through nostalgic content, original material, behind-the-scenes storytelling, and the elevation of new puppet voices.
Our major group project in LEAD 555 challenged a team of six of us to design a product that could educate users about leadership theories and practices. While many teams might have proposed a conference or certificate program, we took a more unconventional route—developing a prototype for a card game called Who’s the Boss? Designed for leaders of all kinds, the game transforms abstract leadership concepts into engaging, strategic play, allowing participants to “win” by mastering the art of effective leadership.
