My talents and skill-sets are centered around different aspects of visual storytelling — be it as 2D art like my graphic design and illustration work, devising scripts and storyboards, or performing and directing for video projects.
I often have a hard time introducing myself and what I do because I wear so many hats. Ultimately, everything I do serves this concept of visual storytelling. I hope to convey something about a character, an organization, a product in everything I put out. It comes from a place of hard work and thoughtful reflection and goes towards my personal ethos of leaving places better than when I found them.
I'm looking to “design good” — creating work that is diligent, ethical, and a little silly.
When I think about my brand story, I can’t help but think I’m doing all the things I loved as a child. My early obsessions were logos and box art, illustrations and page layout, and puppetry and theater. I’m so grateful that I have found ways to continue that into adulthood — a good deal of which I get paid for.
My hope is that others see the fun I am having and want to join into that, themselves. If they don’t, they’re the ones who are missing out.
CAREER PASSIONS FORGED IN CHILDHOOD PLAYTIME
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP
While many of my mentors have been servant leaders, I find myself leaning into transformational leadership. I want to work together with friends and heroes on projects that are greater than the sum of its parts. Like I mentioned before about exciting people with our problems: I like to set ambitious finish lines and hype up the creative people in my life to reach that destination together.
To solve problems with creativity and compassion.
I want to ensure that my teams are telling our stories in unique ways and doing so with respect and reverence of people’s time and talents.
TO ADDRESS REAL WORLD PROBLEMS WITH THE MATURITY OF CHILDLIKE WHIMSY
I enjoy disarming people with new perspectives and takes on familiar stories and imagery. There is a lot to be learned from bringing childlike enthusiasm to grown-up topics. And vice versa… This isn’t me being disrespectful or irreverent — it’s identifying a shared humanity in a broad variety of experiences.
When it comes to storytelling, we all know the classic opener: "Once upon a time..." This is the place many start from. My philosophy, though, is to first know what happily ever after looks like. We don’t need to know how to get there, necessarily. But this is how we build coalition.
This is how we excite people with our problems: I have an amazing destination, do you want me to take you there? Do you want to help me get there? Let’s bring some friends.
Before we write
"ONCE UPON A TIME..."
we need to know
"...AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER."
My culture is built on trust in my community. Trust that I will do everything I can do for my friends and teammates. Trust that I don’t know everything — but I’ll position myself around people who can help me with my setbacks and blind spots. Trust that the world is changing and there will be times we’re met with the unknown and we’ll have to reassess how to move forward — do we need to backtrack? Do we need more help? Do we need to change our goal line?
Nobody should have to move through this world alone, that is true in our work as well. I love new perspectives and input from my teammates — it makes us all better.
To facilitate community by devising and disseminating visual storytelling.
Through the creation of our work, my teams will bolster a creative community of like-minded artists with a broad spectrum of talents. As we share this work with audiences, we will hopefully inspire others and keep growing our coalition.
IN GOOD COMPANY
I thrive in creative, collaborative environments surrounded by like-minded individuals. My future goals include supporting the performing arts, strengthening community nonprofits, inspiring enthusiasm for higher education, and collaborating with friends and mentors across diverse and unexpected fields.
I find new opportunities through social media, my community, and the quality of my work itself. By sharing my process online, staying connected with a global network, and letting strong results speak for themselves, I attract collaborators and projects that align with my creative and professional goals.
