We are your teachers for Band, Choir, and Orchestra. We are excited to have you in class and look forward to a great year. The best way for you to reach us is through email. Please note that any email received after 3:00 p.m. may not be answered until the following day.

We can be reached during any regularly scheduled class time on days that we do not have live rehearsal or practice sessions. During those hours, you can connect with us directly by using the GoogleMeet link that is on the top banner of your GoogleClassroom page. You can also get assistance by making an appointment in advance, Monday-Friday from 7:30am until 10:25am. During those times, we are potentially in meetings so the earlier notice you can give the better. This way, we can schedule your time. Again, we will use the GoogleMeet link on GoogleClassroom. We are NOT available between 9:15am-10:15am on Wednesdays. We will have a regular team meeting at that time.
The Band, Choir, and Orchestra courses are designed to improve musicianship in the setting of a large ensemble as well as a soloist or chamber musician. Fundamental skills such as tone production, rhythmic reading, technique, articulation, style, and musicality are the larger concepts being focused on, with an emphasis being placed on sub-skills of the previously mentioned concepts through performing appropriately-challenged literature.
In these courses, you will grow as a musician by...
completing frequent self-reflection of your own performance abilities
analyzing the techniques of other performers
developing your tone production techniques
refining your intonation
understanding and applying advanced rhythms
employing new articulations and styles, and by
applying new knowledge about music theory and music history to your musical expression.

When school first begins, we will be having our classes on Zoom. Use the Zoom link at the top of your GoogleClassroom announcement feed to join our session at the regularly scheduled class time.
Some, if not most, live rehearsals or live practice sessions will take place over Zoom after we have given directions in the first few days of class (on GoogleMeet). Students should refer to their GoogleClassroom site each day to confirm whether or not to use GoogleMeet or Zoom for that day.
We will use a variety of learning technologies in this course. If you are unfamiliar with any of the technologies listed below, simply click on the title to visit their help page. When I ask you to use a tool for the first time in the course, I will provide you the link, remind you how to log in, and remind you where to can find technical support.
