Concert Choir

(6th Grade)

Always singing? Always listening to music? Want to learn more about music? Like to have fun with others and make friends? You’ll fit right in! Come join the highly regarded and highly accomplished Richland Choirs!

In Choir, you will learn how to sing in two- and three-part harmony in different languages (Spanish, Latin, Italian, etc.) and from all eras of music and genres (Renaissance to Pop). Often input is asked of our choir members to select some of the songs we perform. You will become knowledgeable in the “language of music-making” (notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc) and to become the best singer you can be you will learn and mature in healthy and correct vocal techniques. In addition to growth in musical knowledge, you will grow in foundational character and personal skills through team-building, self-awareness, and self-discipline.

Besides spending time together in rehearsal during the school day, we also spend time together with social events to have fun, play games, and other activities! It is always a time of fun and laughter!

There are many opportunities to perform throughout the year - individual, small group and whole choir competitions, concerts, festivals, and small ensemble concerts out in the community. While in daily rehearsals, you will have the opportunity to work with other choir directors outside of Richland staff and well-regarded choir clinicians as they help prepare us for our upcoming performances.

Choir’s foundation is teamwork, self-discipline, cooperation, and building self- and group-confidence while setting a high standard in music performance.
