About Ms Powers

Hello and welcome to Richland Choirs!

This is my seventh year at Richland as the Choir Director for grades 3rd through 8th grade. My how the time flies when you are having fun! It is an honor to work with the Richland choir students and witness firsthand their love of music and their dedication to growing in their musical skills and knowledge.

I graduated with my Masters of Music Education from Florida State University in the Summer of 2023. I graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in Music Education with a choral emphasis and a Spanish minor. Before my collegiate career, I was a part of the children’s chorus, Anima:Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, from 5th grade through 12th grade. I owe Anima and its conductors my love of choral music and the community that is fostered within the music classroom. Anima also granted me many opportunities to sing in professional venues in North America and in several foreign countries. These experiences have formed my conviction that the arts not only contribute to society but to the personal formation of the performer in their social development and intellectual growth.

My goals include investing in your student in order to draw out and increase their love of music and musical abilities. I will bring musical knowledge including ear training and music theory, utilizing strong educational principles while bringing mastery to my classroom and instilling a love of music and a joyful collaborative experience in and for my students.

Please email me with any questions at any time.
