Observation skills and hand-eye coordination continue to develop through figure or portrait drawing from life. Understanding of the compositional devices of movement and balance in addition to harmony and emphasis are explored in graphic design. Color and value are explored in a painting project incorporating perspective and proportion to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface. The limits of clay continue to be explored through hand-building techniques other than but not excluding the slab method.
