This course may be taken in 7th or 8th grade, but not both. Art 7 is a prerequisite for this course if taking it as a 7th grader. So when signing up for seventh grade classes, know that the student will get Art 7 in trimester 1 or 2 so that Crafts/Printmaking can be taken in the following trimester.
The course looks at the history of art as craft as well as printmaking. Different cultures, artists, time periods or regions are introduced depending upon the type of craft or printing technique being explored. Possible crafts units include: millifiori techniques with polymer clay, paper-making, quilling, batik, and metal repousse. Possible printmaking units will cover any number of processes such as linoleum block printing, mono-printing, silkscreen printing or embossing.
In this folder are all of the electronic resources students will need throughout the trimester for all units of study: daily learning targets, project examples, tutorials, unit packets, evaluations and more! Students should bookmark this folder as we will use it often during class. Parents can use the information to support student learning in art.
