Firth School District 59
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, Idaho law requires all public schools to observe a brief one minute moment of silence at or near the start of each school day.
During this one-minute period, students may choose to reflect, meditate, pray, or simply sit quietly. The purpose of the moment of silence is to provide students with an opportunity to prepare mentally and emotionally for the day ahead.
School staff will not direct or encourage students to use the time for any specific purpose, and all students are expected to remain respectful and silent during this time.
We encourage parents and guardians to speak with their students about the moment of silence and discuss how they may choose to use this time in a way that is meaningful and appropriate for them.
We appreciate your support as we implement this new state requirement. If you have any questions, please contact your children’s school office.
Sincerely,
Firth school district
