Cheron Zei
Oh hey, kindergarten! I am so happy you will be joining me in room 204! Here are a few facts about me:
I was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. My family and I moved to Mount Prospect 5 years ago. This is my tenth year teaching (my sixth year at Westbrook). I taught third grade, for a year, at Chicago Public Schools, kindergarten for three years at the Frances Xavier Warde School, an independent Catholic School, in downtown Chicago, and first grade here at Westbrook for 5 years.
My husband, Charlie, and I have been married for 16 years. We have a 14-year-old son, named Charles, a freshman at Prospect, a 10-year-old son, named Emil, in 5th grade at Lions Park, and a 3-year-old "mini"-Sheepadoddle named Sal (short for Salamander. Emil named him 🤷🏽♀️). My favorite color is every shade of pink. I love unique earrings, big hair, laughing, dancing, being silly, and spending time with my family.
Being silly and dancing is the essence of who I am. In me, my students see that it is okay to be yourself. I love being able to model how to fail and succeed, how to treat and help others, and how to always try and go above and beyond.
I aspire to be the teacher I would want for my own children. Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I want children to feel how powerful and important they are.
