Other optional opportunities for practice will also come home occasionally. We also strongly recommend reading aloud to your child at bedtime. Library books will come home each week and are a great way to enjoy reading aloud to or with your child.
Below are some other ideas for ways to help your child grow as a first grader. It is also important to remember that our kiddos work hard all day at school. Taking time to play, be outside, relax with family and get a good night’s sleep are JUST as important as homework. This allows your child to recharge for another day of school.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT LEARNING AT HOME:
MATH PRACTICE: Your child can use IXL, Prodigy, and the optional extra practice packets that are sent home to practice math skills. I will also send math games home for practice on occasion.
FLUENCY PRACTICE: Each month an optional math or reading fluency drill sheet will come home. Set a timer and allow your child to read/solve as many words/problems as they can in the time given. Have a parent initial each time. If you bring it back with 10 initials at the end of the month, you can add a super improver sticker to our chart!
ONLINE LEARNING: We offer great online resources that are great options for practicing skills at home. Information with all your child’s log ins for these resources will come home soon.
Please also review all daily papers that come home and make corrections when needed.
