It was a hot, dry summer day when the challenge students realized they were missing one of their colleagues. The 8th grade challenge students had been hiking through the Mojave Desert, on a top secret assignment from Mr. Stanfield. The students were asked to fan out over a 8 mile radius and try to survive in a society ruled by anarchy and paintball guns(Lord of the Flies style).
Madi Cox was found about 12 miles from the western edge of the radius and was singing “Rhythm of the Rain”, a song the 8th grade choir sang in 7th grade. “Her voice was so powerful it caused it to rain, and the cacti to start ‘dancing’ to the song” says Search & Rescue officer York Rotchburn. “She was trying to get the cacti to show her the way to the camp,” says Daylor Teen, who is another 8th challenge student.
Cox also claims that “I was just doing what Ms.Rath would’ve done”. This could lead to a number of investigations but at the moment the only question being asked is why stanfield assigned the 8th graders such a strange assignment. Evidence has been found to suggest that he is trying to form a cult where he is “Papa Stanfield.” We here at the Shallot will be sure to keep you updated.
