Recently, the East Middle school band had a wonderful concert, Ms. Bagel was quite proud of their work, the clarinets only squeaked forty times, the flutes only got 30% of the notes wrong, and none of the trombone sliders broke. All in all, a success. The music itself wasn’t bad either, some of the more memorable songs being, “Sweet Dough” “Pretzel at the Circus” and “Crouton Sauce.” Of course, the spotlight went to “Burned Crusty Bread,” an original piece written by Ms. Bagel to “spare our ears from the beginner band anthem” (the name of which, Ms. Bagel will never speak.) However, shortly after the carb concert, the music went missing. None of the students could find their sheet music anywhere, and Ms. Bagel said that the computer files were gone. “I’m freaking out right now. ‘Burned, crusty bread’ was truly my finest work. I can’t even remember the catchy tune! Almost like the song never existed. What am I supposed to do next year with the new sixth grade band? They’ll have to play… the piece… the one, THAT one, the one we never ever NEVER say!” She then shivered and walked away.
Later that night while Ms. Bagel was searching through every stack of music she could find in Moreno’s office when she heard the sweet melodic notes of “burned crusty bread” coming through the walls. She went to investigate. It seemed there was something – or worse someone – behind the cabinets, Ms. Bagel frantically searched for the source of the noise when she settled upon Moreno’s special cabinet labeled “Moreno’s Special Cabinet: DON’T TOUCH!”
No one was allowed to look in or even touch Mr Moreno’s secret cabinet, not even his favorite student Beckett Van Why was allowed to look in the remote direction. Ignoring the large DON’T TOUCH sign and threw open the cabinet to reveal a spiraling staircase leading up to the top floor of the school (aka the roof).
Ms. Bagel climbed up the never ending stairs until they ended, finding a door with a light seeping through the bottom of the door. When she opened the door she was shocked to see Mr Moreno play “burned crusty bread” on is Violan.
“I did the only reasonable thing one could do, I tackled him”
