As we reported several weeks ago, Mr. Seifken's new fascination with the musical instrument, the Didgeridoo has not ceased to thrive. In fact, several teachers reported endless emails regarding how to play the Didgeridoo, and why they should learn. Seifken now offers lessons in his room during lunch, and according to his emails: “for the low price of 20 dollars pers lesson.” To the Shallot's great surprise, many teachers have actually taken Seifken up on his offer, meeting in his room for group lessons. Shallot reporters snuck to the window of his classroom at lunch, and the teachers there were as follows: Mr. Carei, Mrs. Kindall, Mr. Somerville, Mr. Stanfield, Mr. Hansen. Please understand that more staff members could have been there, but Seifken quote, “looked at them weird,” and so they departed. Mrs. McGaffey desperately wanted to join the group, but Mr. Seifken gently declined her offer, “this is not karaoke, Ma’am.” As an email to the entire school reported last Monday, a concert will be held in the lunchroom on this Friday after school. All teachers will be playing the Didgeridoo, with Mr. Moreno directing the group. Seifken was not successful in gathering 10 players, the amount in a normal Didgeridoo concert, so he recorded himself multiple times. Many students are willing to attend to videotape their teachers. Though the “East Symphony” (made up of one instrument) claims they are actually, “really good at playing the Didgeridoo.”
