A group of East Middle school 8th graders were on a paddle boarding field trip to Connected Lakes. The students boarded the paddleboards and started to paddle to the other side of the lake. They were about halfway across the lake when a student saw a drowning fish. They then watched in awe as the bird heroically dove into the lake, risking itself drowning to save the fish's life. The students watched in suspense as they waited for the bird to come out of the water. After an intense 5 seconds, the bird majestically burst out of the lake with the fish in its beak. “I couldn't believe it” said chaperone Mr. Siefken. “I was shocked that the bird would dive into the freezing lake to save that fish. Frankly I was inspired” The bird then generously brought the fish back to its nest to give it a towel to dry off. This bird's act of kindness is an inspiration to all.
