A new record has been set at EMS after staff, students and parents have created 38 separate fundraisers for the month of January. Ranging from a wide range of goals and plans, all 38 fundraisers were read over the intercom. For almost two hours, students waited outside to proudly announce their plans to help out the animal shelter or install potted plants in every classroom over the loudspeakers. An audible cheer could be heard when the previous record, 31, had been broken, but was quickly drowned out by the 32nd, 33rd, and 34th groups of schoolchildren spreading the word about their ideas. The total funds raised by each of these fundraisers was 256 dollars, mostly by the parents of the kids in charge. The total money goal for all the fundraisers was approximately 37 thousand. No fundraisers have been called for yet this month, but office personnel expect that thirty to forty fundraisers per month could be commonplace. When interviewed, one of the brave kids that lobbied for money explained the rage for fundraising. “Well, I think it’s finally time that the Chick-fil-a on North avenue is given the money it deserves. Right? Valid.”
