As the 2021-2022 year draws to an uncomfortably fast close, many 8th graders are preparing for the inevitable goodbyes they will have to say to all the staff at East Middle school. The staff in turn has been giving out gifts to all the kids that actually did work. Examples include Cameron Kirkegaard, who was given a blood offering, and Christian Lara, who was given the deed to Mr. Somerville’s house.
This close is also sad for teachers, as we are preparing to lose our resident tortoise, Mr. Seifken. Mr. Stanfield has been seen crying over the loss of his closest comrade, in fact. When questioned about why he’s choosing to leave, he simply answered “I will become the first tortoise on the moon.”
The beauty of fifth graders preparing to come to East (because it's obviously the best middle school ever), and the 8th graders preparing to go to high school, all that’s on the 7th grader’s minds is that they have one more year to go. One more year of the dreaded beloved middle school before they move to the arguably worse totally better high school.
As we look back on the year in question, we can all have a laugh about all the strange and funny things that happened at East. {add funny things everyone forgot about because of Covid-JA}
