Welcome to Independence Academy Middle School
At Independence Academy, we are proud to be an Expeditionary Learning school—a place where students don’t just learn about the world, they experience it. Our classrooms extend beyond four walls as students engage in hands-on projects, fieldwork, and real-world learning adventures that connect academics to purpose.
At the middle school level, students continue their journey through one of three unique programs—RISE, SOAR, or CREATE—each offering meaningful opportunities to explore, collaborate, and grow as learners and leaders.
Whether students are designing community projects, performing on stage, hiking local trails, or traveling to new destinations, they’re learning to think critically, act compassionately, and see themselves as part of something bigger.
Our middle school operates on a team-teaching model that fosters deep connections between subjects and teachers. Science and math educators share a classroom, weaving together inquiry, data, and problem-solving, while ELA and social studies teachers collaborate in shared spaces to bring history, culture, and storytelling to life. This intentional structure allows for maximum co-curricular crossover, giving students an integrated and authentic learning experience that mirrors how knowledge connects in the real world.
