Volleyball is normally played with 6 players on the court at a time (unless you play beach, then that is another story). There is at least one setter, sometimes two. There are three positions: a setter, a hitter, or a libero. When you are a libero, you only play the back row. When you are a hitter, it depends on what hitter you are; there is a middle, outside, and sometimes right side. If you are a middle, you only play front row; if you are an outside, then you play both front and back row. When you are passing, you mostly want to hit the middle of your fore arm; if you are diving for the ball, it is ok to hit your fist/hand. Setting is basically just cradling the ball with your fingertips. Hitting is where you hit the ball with the palm of your hand to hit it over the net to the other side/opponent. Those are some of the basics. These are some small things about volleyball.
MARCH MADDNESS
By Braden Thompson, Sports Editor, April 1, 2026
March Madness is a super exciting time when college basketball teams play a big tournament every March. But did you know the name "March Madness" is actually pretty old? It started way back in 1939 when a man named Henry V. Porter, who worked at a high school in Illinois, used it to talk about how wild and crazy people got about high school basketball games in March. Everyone cheered so much and got so excited that it felt like total madness! Now, the name is perfect for the crazy fun of the NCAA tournament.
For a long time, not many people outside of Illinois called it March Madness. But then, in the 1980s, a TV sports announcer named Brent Musburger started saying “March Madness” when he talked about the big college basketball tournament on TV. That’s when the whole country started using the name! The tournament had become really crazy and full of surprises, with teams getting knocked out if they lost and lots of underdogs winning. So, “March Madness” just fit perfectly!
Today, “March Madness” represents more than just basketball—it captures the emotional highs, shocking upsets, and nationwide engagement that make the NCAA tournament one of the most exciting sporting events in the world. From its unexpected origins to its modern cultural impact, the name reflects exactly what fans experience every spring: pure, unforgettable chaos.

The Story of Tennis
Tennis originated in northern France in the 12th century, but the ball was then struck with the palm of the hand, hence the name jeu de paume. Originally, it was played with a bare hand, and later with a glove. The tennis match, like any other physical and mental exercise, causes a stress reaction in the player's body.
