All orchestra students are required to wear polished, planned, professional concert black attire.
Students can choose what works best for them. Options Include:
Black formal dress or skirt and formal black top and black dress shoes. Any dress or skirt above floor length must be worn with tights or leggings underneath. The goal is all black from the floor up without exposed legs.
Black formal top, black dress pants, black dress shoes and socks if needed.
Leggings alone are NOT considered to be appropriate concert attire. They are just fine under skirts or dresses.
Students may opt for black dress pants with a black suit/ tux jacket, white or black solid, long sleeve dress shirt, solid black bow tie or tie, and black dress shoes and socks.
Tux jackets may be checked out free of charge from CHS, but bowties/ties should be purchased by the individual. There is a $75 fine for unreturned tux jackets.
The orchestra may wear special attire for different performances such as CHS provided tux jackets for Colorado West Festival or fun Pop Concert costumes, or holiday attire.
White socks?!?!?!?!
Concert Black Expectations
CHS dress code still applies, however concert attire expectations are a step up from dress code as is appropriate for a formal performance.
All concert attire should not interfere with your movement and ability to play your instrument.
Jeans, hoodies, flip flops, any clothing with exposed midriff, cleavage, shoulders, or above the knee is considered inappropriate for concerts. Rock these looks at other times.
Please let Mrs. Leonardi know if your family needs anything and we will work together to get it.
Inappropriate Concert Attire
In situations where a student wears inappropriate concert attire to a performance they may lose up to 10% of their concert points.
The director reserves the right to decide if the student needs to pull items from the emergency concert wear available at CHS before going onstage or, depending on the situation, the student is not be allowed to perform.
If the student is unable to perform at the concert for this reason, it will be treated like an unexcused missed concert and there will not be a way to make up the points.
