Reading Intervention

Reading strategies is part of Skyview’s Tier II RtI process. The students who qualify for this level of RtI intervention are students who have been identified as having some sort of difficulty, and they have not responded by tier I efforts in a general education classroom. Reading strategies is a small group intervention that implements the methodologically of Orton Gillingham, SIPPS, and other research based approaches to help build students’ abilities to become independent readers. This class meets every day during the enrichment time. Students in this class will be monitored weekly to see whether their skills are improving. They can receive gradually less support when they are able to succeed in the general education program.
