Weather permitting- Families are welcome to attend and observe an outdoor parade at 9:00 am. Students will parade around the back of the school. Please park in the front and walk around to the back of the school. **In the event of inclement weather the family part of the parade will be canceled.
Students can wear costumes to school on Friday, October 31st. Remember that there are a limited number of adults available to help assist students with their costumes. Costumes worn to school should be comfortable and conducive to learning.
We ask that all parents and students follow the District #46 Holiday Advisory Committee Implementation Guidelines effective for Halloween Celebrations:
*While costumes are allowable, it is important to take into consideration that some families are deeply offended by the representations of witches, ghosts, vampires, devils, werewolves and goblins. Please be courteous when assisting your child in choosing a costume.
*Weapons and other suggestions of overt violence (including face paint and masks) are not allowed.
*District 46 staff reserves the right to remove disruptive costumes or portions thereof.
Classroom will have individual celebrations and teachers will reach out if they need assistance.
ALL parties are food free celebrations.
We would like to honor the veterans connected to our school community in a special way this Veterans Day. We invite families to share a photo of a veteran along with a short description that includes:
Veteran’s name
Branch of service
Years served
Student connection (e.g., “grandparent of John Smith, 2nd grade”)
Please email the photo and description to our Information Specialist, Aimee Turner, at turner.aimee@d46.org, by November 9.
Each veteran submission will be turned into a tribute slide, like the example below. These will be displayed on the TV in the front of our building during the week of Veterans Day and featured on our school’s AVTV broadcast on November 11.
Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate the service of our veterans. We look forward to honoring them together as a school community!
Dear Students and Guardians:
It is both the responsibility and the pleasure of Community Consolidated School District 46 to inform all families regarding district policies and practices. In an effort to both inform you and conserve resources, the 2025-2026 Student Handbook is available on our website at https://d46.org/student-handbook/. We will continue to provide printed paper copies of the handbook to families who request them.
This handbook contains important information including the district mission statement, philosophy, goals and responsibilities, school calendar, school contact information, and an overview of programs, policies, and student and parent responsibilities. Please read the 2025-2026 Community Consolidated School District 46 Student Handbook and complete this form to confirm your receipt and understanding of the handbook.
