This group is comprised mostly of 4th grade students in their first year of playing their instruments. The goal of Preparatory Orchestra is to establish the foundational techniques of playing a string instrument. These foundational skills include but are not limited to: posture/positioning, basic rhythms, reading notes in the key of D major, playing as an ensemble, and maintaining a good tone with our bow. Along with this students will build an appreciation for music, build collaboration skills, and work on time management/self-discipline. This ensemble meets after school on Tuesdays from 3:10-4:10, and students have a lesson during the school day once a week.
