This group is comprised mostly of 5th grade students in their second year of playing their instruments. In intermediate orchestra, our goal is to reinforce the skills learned in the first year of playing and learn new challenging techniques on our instruments. Some of these skills include: finger patterns in various key signatures, more challenging rhythm patterns, slurring and hooked bows. Along with this students will continue to build an appreciation for music, build collaboration skills, and work on time management/self-discipline. This ensemble meets after school on Thursdays from 3:10-4:10, and students have a lesson during the school day once a week.Â
Thursday, December 11th is the first performance date for the Intermediate Orchestra. The winter concert is in the Jackson Middle School Gym and begins at 6:30 PM. Admission is FREE. The report time for all orchestra students is 5:45.
