5th Grade Band
5th Grade Band
This group meets before school and is the first experience students will have playing a band instrument of their choice in a large ensemble. Students will study primarily from their method book and learn the basics of instrumental technique, musicality and teamwork. The 5th grade band performs twice a year at the end of each semester.
6th Grade Band
The 6th grade band will continue to study basic technique and ensemble coordination using the method book. Students begin learning their first full scales and delve into larger scale pieces of introductory band repertoire. The 6th grade band will perform at four different concerts throughout the year.
7/8th Grade Band
The 7/8th grade band functions fully as a young concert band in preparation for high school. Students will learn all 12 major scales and continue studying core band repertoire. The 7/8th grade band will also perform at four different concerts throughout the year.
High School Band
Including 9-12th grade students, members of this group perform frequently inside and outside the school. Students in this band will continue to improve their technique through learning advanced major and minor scales, flexibility exercises, and the study of more challenging band repertoire. Participation in the marching band is a required part of musicians' education at this level.
