~ 6th Grade Orchestra at Hadley Junior High School ~
Question: "Why continue on to 6th Grade Orchestra?"
Answer: Please see the AWESOME reasons why below... :)
Dear 5th Grade Beginning Orchestra Students & Parents,
First of all, I am soooooooo INCREDIBLY PROUD of your AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT learning how to play a BRAND NEW INSTRUMENT this school year!!
Here are some things to consider when continuing in 6th Grade Orchestra at Hadley next school year:
IMPORTANT: Trying 6th Grade Orchestra gives you the opportunity to continue learning for many years, if you so choose to even during 7th-12th Grades and beyond. Orchestra is a sequential, curricular class: 5th grade is the 1st year of study, 6th grade is the 2nd year of study, 7th grade is the 3rd year of study, etc. Learning how to play an instrument builds on the skills you learned the year before, so give 6th Grade Orchestra a try, at least during 6th Grade, before deciding what to do for future years. :)
Clubs at Hadley: Here is a link to Hadley Clubs after school that you can do while continuing to do 6th Grade Orchestra as a class during the school day. Some examples of the clubs are Art, Art Tech, Cooking, Sewing, Robotics, Theater, Ukulele, Yearbook, and many more! Click here for Hadley Clubs
Learning to play an instrument can bring much joy later in life by providing a hobby or even a career as a music teacher or performer (...and remember, there are scholarships for college too - and you do NOT even have to be a music major to get music scholarships simply to continue to play in the university orchestra!)
There is an Orchestra/Choir Combo option - Orchestra 3 days, Choir 2 days week.
Playing an instrument every day during class will provide incredible growth. Many songs and skills will be learned and progressed quickly.
Orchestra is a built-in family during the middle school years. It's a safe place to grow & learn. You will make your best friends having fun while making music together! There is nothing quite like feeling a part of a group while making music - it’s truly special, fun, and wonderful.
Cello and Bass students: School instruments are provided during class in 6th-12th Grades. You will not need to carry instruments from home to school. Rental instruments will stay home for practicing and to use for concerts.
It is my sincere hope that you will continue learning how to play your instrument in Orchestra class during 6th grade and beyond - it’s soooo good for your brain, muscles, heart, and soul. (Watch the TED Talk below - it's sooooo AWESOME!!!)
Wishing you all the best!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Feuerborn
