Hadley Electives Program

Electives provide students with multiple opportunities to explore a rich variety of topics and interests in order to develop their identities, learn about their strengths, discover and demonstrate their own competencies and plan for their future. Students decide which electives they want to take between a one year long Music Elective or four quarter long Exploratory Electives.

Your Elective Choices

All families decide whether to take a music elective or the exploratory elective. We have several after-school clubs and activities that allow students to continue participating in Music (Band/Orchestra/Chorus) while also participating in clubs that are extensions of some of the Exploratory classes. This way, students can participate in both without giving anything up.

Music Electives
(Year Long)

Music courses allow students to explore instrumental and/or vocal music for the entire year. Our goal is to provide students a place to grow musically, socially, and academically. Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity are "constants" in our music classes and rehearsals. Students’ participation in music fosters creativity, promotes critical thinking, and increases aesthetic awareness, equipping them to thrive in a 21st Century world.

Hadley Exporatory Electives (Quarter Long)

Hadley operates on a quarter system; students have 4 classes that last 9 weeks each. Exploratory courses allow students to explore hands-on, interest-driven challenges inspired by real-world science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and mathematics (STEAM) topics while fostering the development of important 21st century skills. Students rotate through four quarter long EXPLORATORY classes offering an array of projects and other learning activities that integrate inquiry based learning, creative expression, problem solving, and the engineering processes.
