What are Read & Write for Google Chrome and OrbitNote?
Read & Write for Google is an extension that provides comprehensive reading and writing supports for Google Docs and the web. OrbitNote is the PDF reader and annotation tool within Read & Write for Google. Some of the benefits include:
Read & Write for Google is an extension that provides comprehensive reading and writing supports for Google Docs and the web. OrbitNote is the PDF reader and annotation tool within Read & Write for Google. Some of the benefits include:
- Tools like talking and picture dictionaries and a translator to support struggling readers or English Language Learners
- Writing tools like word prediction and voice dictation
- Colored highlighters for researching and extracting information from documents and the web
- Typewriter and post-it annotations for PDFs in Google Drive
Once you have added the extension, you can use OrbitNote in Schoology and Read & Write from your chrome extension bar in the top right portion of your Chrome Browser using the purple puzzle piece.

Adding the Extension:
1) Go to the Read& Write on the D303 Chrome Web Store
2) Click Add to Chrome
3) You will see the purple puzzle piece icon attach to your chrome toolbar.
📌To pin the extension to your toolbar, click on the gray puzzle piece and click the pin icon next to Read & Write📌
Launching the Extension:
Click on the purple puzzle piece to launch the extension on the internet based site you are working on and the toolbar will appear at the top of your screen.

Using OrbitNote to complete assignments in Schoology
- Click on the assignment.
- Click on Open with OrbitNote and use the OrbitNote tools to annotate on the PDF.
- Click Turn In when finished.
- Click Submit to turn it into Schoology.
