About Mrs. Crossen

Welcome to second grade! I am thrilled to be teaching your children at Fox Ridge. I am looking forward to an exciting year.

I started teaching preschool while I was in college, at Mansio Mens Montessori School in Geneva for two years. Once I graduated, I taught first grade at Highland Elementary in Elgin for 4 years. Next I taught first grade at Richmond for 7 years. I then moved because of low enrollment to Ferson Creek and taught half day kindergarten for one year. I moved again due to low enrollment and taught second grade at Wasco. I then transferred to Fox Ridge where I taught 5th grade for 5 years, and 2nd for 1 year. I am excited to start a new adventure at Munhall teaching second grade.

I went to Illinois State University and received my BA in Elementary Education, and then received my masters in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. I continue to learn and grow each year by reading the latest educational books and taking classes and workshops. This past summer I took classes on Math and how to integrate technology into a primary classroom.

At home, I am married to my husband Terry and we have 3 children, Caleb 12, Kendall 11, and Leah 2. Caleb is in 7th grade and Kendall is in 6th grade at Wredling. Leah spends her days with a great friend of mine. When I am not at school, I am being a mom. Caleb is in travel soccer, plays the trombone and joined the Wredling choir. Kendall dances, plays the violin, and is also in choir. Leah is in swim lessons and is now begging to start soccer like her big brother. Terry teaches kindergarten in East Aurora School district. He also coaches middle school volleyball and basketball.. Needless to say, we are busy enjoying each other and life!

My goal this year is to establish a positive, comfortable learning environment where your child is able to learn, grow and communicate. We will be focusing on having a growth mindset and knowing that with time and effort we can achieve the goals that we set.

I look forward to working with both you and your child!
