6th Grade Social Studies will continue their exploration of ancient China and progress to ancient Greece. Students will explore the various GRAPES categories of each civilization while discussing their impact on today. Sixth grade students have been learning about Chinese geography, three major Chinese philosophies, Emperor Qin's terracotta army and his unification of China. As we continue, students will be learning about the Silk Road and them discuss the various forms of government featured in Greek government.
Beginning fourth quarter, students will be learning about the westward expansion of the United States. They will also be learning about slavery and the division of the country before and during the Civil War.
In 8th Grade Social Studies, we are reaching the end of our Cold War Unit. Students learned about the power struggle between the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union. We covered many topics such as the Vietnam and Korean War, the Berlin Wall, the Nuclear Arms Race, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and many more. Students will have two summatives for this unit, a Cold War Brochure project, and then the Unit 8 Summative Test. When we return from Spring Break, we will be starting our Civil Rights Movement Unit.
