Who Was Mr. Bishop? By: Nathan Mills
Dundee Middle School has always been special. I mean, think of all the opportunities we have at this school, these are not present at any of the four other middle schools. Who was the man involved in many of these activities? Mr. Bishop. He was the driving force behind this amazing school, in many ways keeping it in motion. His accomplishments at this school are many, and they get really impressive when you include his accomplishments outside of DMS. It's really hard to keep track of just how much stuff he did, so we've attempted to consolidate all that he did into a memorial newspaper for him. Hopefully this will help you see just how amazing Mr. Bishop was, and more importantly, help you through your grief.
Mr. Bishop, the Music Teacher
Mr. Bishop co-taught multiple music ensembles at DMS. Mr. Bishop helped with both band and chorus when he first started at DMS, he then exclusively co-taught in chorus, then after several years he started to co-teach in Orchestra and Chorus, and most recently co-taught with all three music ensembles. In addition to these ensembles, he started various extracurricular groups in his earlier years at DMS including a bucket drumming ensemble, a jazz group, and an a cappella vocal group. He also led a music class with the special needs students.
How Mr. Bishop Inspired By: Nicholas Jenson
Elephants: He would choose students in 8th grade to give a wooden elephant. He loved elephants from when he was little and he always wore the elephant necklace he got in high school. From elementary school he always loved elephants. He also loved what they symbolized (Loyalty, power, wisdom), and wore his necklace everyday to remind him just how many wonderful people he was surrounded by.
Frozen: Mr. Bishop loved frozen. He would always dress as Elsa on Halloween, Midnight mile and fall fest at school. He would also sing let it go and it was his signature thing.
