We Are the Champions!!
The 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Team won the championship over AMS! The Cardunals ended an amazing season with an overall record of 10–1. Special shoutouts go to the captains, Zia Suarez and Emily Williams, and to Coach Reiff for leading this team to a D300 victory!
DMS Volleyball Team 7th grade

I recently interviewed the 7th grade volleyball team's coach, Mrs. Gough.
It is Mrs. Gough's first year coaching volleyball; her main sport is actually soccer. She played soccer for years, and she states that being the volleyball coach is like a new adventure. Mrs. Gough said she loves that about 50 girls tried out for volleyball this year! She believes this shows how much energy and interest there is in this sport at our school. Mrs. Gough chose to coach 7th grade volleyball because it is such a fun and important year, with many players developing their confidence and discovering what they can do. She specifically wanted to coach 7th grade to build strong foundational skills and teamwork while creating a positive environment where everyone can grow as an athlete. She also said that picking the roster was really tough.
Nora Black is a 7th-grade volleyball player. She said that she loves playing volleyball. This is her second year playing, and she really enjoys playing for a school team.

What Is Cross Country Even About?
Well, cross country is an amazing sport all about running! Cross country is a long-distance sport. For our school, 6th and 7th graders run 1.5 miles, while 8th graders run 2 miles! Cross country, or better known as XC, is a great way to meet new people and try new experiences. Thank you to all our DMS runners for showing what teamwork looks like and how it can improve the team's performance. Our cross country team is extremely talented and fast! This year's season has ended, but you should definitely consider joining next year! Cross country is both a mental and physical sport. That makes it hard, but it's still worth it!
