Students must receive a passing grade in a minimum of eight courses during the previous two semesters. The course fee for Driver Education is $150. There is also a $20 permit fee from the Secretary of State.

Students must pass both the classroom and driving phases of the course in order to be eligible to get their license. They must attend a minimum of thirty hours of classroom and drive for a total of six hours. State law also requires each student to complete fifty hours of practice driving with an adult (outside of class) to qualify for an Illinois license. The fifty hours must be documented on the student driver log sheet.
