Big Mike continues to shine. The 6-7 junior started the competition barely scratching a heave around 52-6. He came back in the Finals with a 50-11.5 (15.53m) bomb to win gold and also break our Indoor School Record! This also ranks him as the 19th-best thrower in 3A currently. Mike's ceiling is scary high, according to Coach Garbrecht, as he's only scratching the surface of his full potential. It will be fun to watch Mike in the outdoor season, along with his teammates as they continue to improve every week!

The Freshman shocks the world. We had high hopes for Caden heading into the season after his stellar Cross Country season. We thought that the Freshman 800m and 1600m records would be within reach by the time we got to May. Caden liked March better. In the FS 800m, Caden bolted off the start line, leading the race by 10-15 meters from start to finish to run 2:05.38, breaking legendary Andrew distance runner, Matt Withrow's, 22-year old Freshman Record. Withrow won the Distance Triple-Crown in 2004 (XC State Champ, 3200m & 1600m State Champ in Track). This is also the new FS Indoor School Record. His time also ranks #6 among 3A freshman in the state. The fact that this record was broken on an indoor 200-meter track is a remarkable feat. How many more records will go down this year??

60m High Hurdle SWSC Champion. Nick's time of 8.83 is a season PR and currently ranks 23rd in 3A. Nick will look to improve his time at IL Prep Top Times this weekend. Congrats Nick!

4x2: 1:32.72 PR (2nd)

4x4: 3:34.99 PR (4th)

Overall, solid performances by our sprint relays. Both races were loaded with some of the best teams in the state. In the 4x2, we beat IL#14 and IL#19 and lost to IL#1. In the 4x4, we beat 3A#32 and lost to 3A#5, 3A#7, & 3A#11. We look forward to having one more shot to beat the Indoor 4x2 School Record time of 1:32.41 set by last year's team at IL Prep Top Times this Saturday. We hope to have one more shot in the 4x4 on Saturday, but we will have to wait and see if we qualify. Additionally, our FS team broke the FS Indoor School Record!

Shocker in the 800! Jonathan Jones in his second-ever 800 race runs 2:08.42. This time is incredible considering that JJ is a sprinter with zero endurance training this season. JJ finishes the indoor season having the 2nd-best open 800 time on the team. JJ will be joining Coach Freivogel and the D-Crew for their 800 workouts moving forward. Incredibly tough performance by JJ.

FS Conference Champ in the Shot Put as a Freshman. Currently the 7th ranked Freshman in the state of Illinois. Judah's throw of 42-6.25 (12.96m) is the New Freshman Indoor School Record is just off the Freshman Outdoor Shot Put Record of 43-11 (13.39m) set in 1996! Keep working Judah!

Dionte's jump broke our FS Indoor School Record and is 6-inches off the FS Outdoor School Record. Four more jumpers are less than a foot away from breaking the 20ft barrier. Awesome work by Coach Marren and the entire Jumps crew!

We finished 4th as a team, 9 points off of 2nd place. We actually outperformed our finishes in ~90% of our entries compared to last year (2nd place in 2022). Our Conference is becoming a juggernaut. We are still looking forward to two-time SWSC Red Conference Champ in the HJ, Austin Kulig, returning for outdoor season. All-Conference and State Qualifier, Mike Barberi, returned this week as he's begun getting back into track form.
