Rey Alexander ran a PR of 6.41hh in the prelims. He came back to run 6.37hh to place 2nd! His handheld time converts to a time of 6.64, which currently ranks 13th in the state! Rey's block starts have been improving rapidly. Rey also had his 3rd 22-low split in the 4x2 this season (two on a 178m track!). Teammate Jaden Michel ran encouraging times of 6.47hh and 6.53hh to make finals and place 6th. Good sign!
Senior team captain and all-around-good-guy, Carter Bailitz, has had a busy week. Carter has had Variety Show practices and performances late into the evening each day this week. Carter could only attend half of the meet before bolting back to Tinley Park for a shower and wardrobe change before the next V-Show performance. Carter made the most of his time. Carter started his day off in the 55m Hurdles with a PR time of 8.4hh. Carter's time translates to 8.64. Carter then erupted in Triple Jump with a PR jump of 41-9. This is the 35th best jump in 3A this season. Still much more in the tank!
One of the best parts about the PN Track Indoor is the Guantlet 1600. Even though times aren't always great due to the 178m track, it's an electric race. Caden Wolfe had run 4:52.28 at the Clash at the Collesium at Lakes HS. Reese DeVriendt hadn't run the 1600 yet this indoor season, as he was returning from a knee injury. Both runners ran fantastic races with Wolfe running 4:51.2 (New Freshman Indoor School Record) and DeVriendt running 4:51.7. Both times are Indoor PRs.
Nick Smith exploded onto the scene in the hurdles, with PR times of 8.0 in the prelims and 7.9 in the finals to place 2nd. This time ranks Nick 3A#13. Nick came back to run a 23.8 split in the 4x2 and 24.8 in the 200. Nick's poised for a big Indoor Conference meet on Friday.
We ran a different lineup than our previous meets. We didn't have Jaden Michel or Brendan Kelly, who both ran on the IL#9 time at Mustang Relays. Julian Littleton stepped in and ran a solid 24.5 leadoff split, setting up Rey Alexander to provide the fireworks with a 22.3 split. Wow! Kenny Carter ran a solid 24.2 split. Hurdler and 4x4 specialist, Nick Smith, ran the anchor leg in his season debut in the 4x2. Nick ran a PR split of 23.8! Our time of 1:34.7 is FAST on a 178m track. Anytime you beat Plainfield North in a sprint relay, it's a good sign of where you're at.
The Sophomore sprinter and jumper had the best day of his young career. Dionte jumped 19-7 in the LJ, 1.5 inches off his PR. He then came back to run a team-best 23.7 split in the FS 4x2 and 24.6 in the 200. Dionte has major upside and it's exciting to see it come to fruition.
Note: All times are hand times. To convert to FAT, you must add .24 to each time.
