We knew we had the speed. We've lacked the health. We finally had our three returning 4x2 runners from last year's state qualifying team back running together. Welcome back, Jaden Michel. Jaden had been fighting a hip injury for the past month. He has been an exceptional teammate throughout his recovery, attending every meet and practice to support his teammates. Brendan Kelly led off with a blazing 23.2 split (leadoff splits are typically 0.5-1 second slower than the other splits). Rey Alexander destroyed the field with a 22.2 split. Jaden ran a solid first race of the year, and Kenny Carter continues to impress in his first year of track. 1:32.75 is the second-fastest indoor time in school history (1:32.41 last year). We currently rank IL#9!

All four runners PR'd to run 3:36.04. This team continues to outpace last year's indoor team (3:36.94 at Mustang Relays '22), which finished the indoor season running the school record time of 3:32.73 and qualified for state outdoors. Rey Alexander has a chance to break 50 outdoors. His 54.3 leadoff split is only scratching the surface of his potential. Hurdlers Carter Bailitz (53.6) and Nick Smith (53.4) both had big PR's. Good sign for the 300int outdoors! Tony Ryan continues to run consistently good splits in the 54s. He's due to make a big jump soon. How fast will this team fun at Indoor Conference and Top Times?

The D-Crew seems to PR in every meet and every race this season. This is the fastest indoor 4x8 we've run since 2016. Freshman Caden Wolfe continues to prove himself to be one of our best varsity runners with a 2:08.4* leadoff split. Junior Reese DeVriendt keeps chipping away at his times, running a team-best 2:07.7*. Junior Ryne Sternberg ran another PR of 2:10.0*. Senior Jack Zvejnieks ran a massive 4-second PR of 2:09.0*. After running 56.69 at LWC on Saturday, I wrote that he was due for a huge PR in the 4x8. He was, in fact, ready. Awesome work by Coach Frievogel!
