Tarasiewicz 45-7.25 (13.09m) and Barrett 45-5.25 (13.85m) both throw 3-foot PR's and finish 1-2 to open their season. Freshman Judah Van Engen throws a bomb of 39-2 (11.94m)! 39-2 would have finished the 2022 indoor season as the 6th-best freshman mark in 3A! Paul Ledebuhr's Freshman School Record of 43-11 in 1996 might be in jeopardy!
The last event of the day, our favorite event. Winner. Lincoln-Way West pushed us the entire race and ultimately Nick Smith took it home. I have a feeling like we're going to see LWW down the road... Our time of 3:45.50 is four seconds faster (!) than the 2022 team at Lockport. That team won indoor conference, placed 6th at Il Prep Top Times, and qualified for State in May. How good could this team be?

Our two senior hurdlers have a huge start to their season, despite not having any practices with high-speed hurdles. Nick Smith won running 8.85, and Carter Bailitz placed 4th running 9.46. Both ran 56 or lower in the 4x4 too!

Kenny Carter (Sr) and Julian Littleton (Jr) are new to track and field. They didn't look like that on Saturday. Kenny anchored the 4x2 with a 24.6 split, nearly holding off a talented LWW runner. Kenny came back to run his first 400 ever, leading off the 4x4 with a 58.6 split. He's only scratching the surface of his potential. Likewise, Julian Littleton jumped 19-9.5 in his first time EVER jumping into the sand to place 3rd. He came back and ran solid times of 7.48 in the 60m, and 25.40 in the 200m. Sky's the limit!
1:39.22 placed 2nd to a fast LWW team. This time is 1.5 seconds off what we ran at Lockport last year. Considering this was Sulaimon and K. Carter's first time ever running the indoor 4x2 on 178m curves and Corey Alexander's first time leading off, this was a great outcome. We are still missing two of our three returning members of our 4x2 who placed 10th at the IHSA State Track Meet last year. Jaden Michel is recovering from a hip injury and hopes to be back in a few weeks. Brendan Kelly is recovering from off-season surgery and will make his debut this week at Plainfield South. The future is bright.
