4x1 breaks 36-year meet record!
In the now 36 years of the DGS Bud Mohns Invite, there has never been a faster 4x1 time than what the Bolts ran on Saturday. 42.52 is currently IL#5 & 3A#3. Our season progression: 42.81 - 42.94 - 42.52. The State Qualifying Standard is 42.99. Five weeks until the Sectional. Five weeks to improve.

Dionte jumped 20-5.5 on his first jump to beat the FS Meet Record, only to have it broken on the very next jump by a friend of the Bolts, Devin Cathey of Bolingbrook. Devin is the son of Coach Cathey, the assistant sprint coach for Bolts Track. Congrats to Dionte, Devin, and Coach Cathey!

Much like the 4x1, this group continues to burn up the track. Season progression: 1:31.64 - 1:29.64 - 1:29.74. The State Qualifying Standard is 1:30.85. And it's only April 15th. Is the School Record of 1:28.00 in jeopardy??

Mike Tarasiewicz wins two bronze medals, highlighted by his big PR in the Discus of 146-0. This is only 8-3 off the State Qualifying Standard. Tommy Barrett also had a nice day placing 4th in the Shot.
Freshman Judah Van Engen won the Shot Put with a throw of 41-9.25! Just over a foot off our Freshman School Record. Sophmore teammate, Shawn Culich, had a big PR in the Discus, throwing 106-1.5 and placing 3rd.

Coach Freivogel and I talked extensively this offseason about going after our Freshman 4x8 School Record. As the Indoor Season progressed, we knew we were in a good position heading outdoors. Saturday, we went for it. Jack Radtke, Evan Misura, Jay O'Reilly, and Caden Wolfe ran faster than the record. The Baton did not. We dropped the baton on the first exchange and finished with a time of 8:49.59. The School Record is 8:49.54. 0.05 seconds off the record. I have a feeling like this record's days are numbered.
